Rooted in Western New York!

Join us as we celebrate Paul Maurer, Chairman of Re-Tree, with the first "Rooted in Western New York" award in recognition of 17 years of dedication to the re-treeing of Western New York.  Re-Tree was established on November 3, 2006 by a group of about 40 Western New York residents who saw first-hand the devastation done to the treescape by the freak October 2006 snowstorm.

Led by co-founders David Colligan and Paul Maurer, the mission then was to replace the approximately 30,000 trees that were damaged or destroyed over a period of five years, with the help of volunteers.  The first planting took place on Arbor Day in 2007, and while it took over ten years to meet that first goal, ReTree continues to plant trees, in the spring and fall, along with teaching others how to properly care for trees.

The event takes place October 14, from noon until 2pm at the Terrace at Delaware Park, 199 Lincoln Parkway, Buffalo, NY  14222.  Light refreshments will be served; cash bar.

The cost is $50 per ticket and proceeds from the event will go to future tree plantings.  All attendees will be entered into a prize drawing.

Sponsorships are available. Please contact Cindy Kincaide at [email protected] for information.
